Don't Judge a Street by it's Gutter.

Walking down bourbon street was definitely an experience. Especially because when I say "walking" I really mean moving forward about 2 inches per minute trying not to fall down and be trampled. The crowd is about as crazy as Black Friday at Wal-Mart.

For those of you who haven't been here the basic mechanism is this: there are balconies all along the street and people stand on them with lots and lots of beads. People throw beads down on the crowd. The cheap beads eventually end up here - in the gutter along with the rest of the garbage associated with extreme intoxication. The "nice" beads are usually exchanged for some type of exhibition, and I'm not talking about the state fair. Quite a few of the exhibitionists are people that I would give beads to keep their clothes on, but there are a few gems around.

More later :-)
